3 April 2011 Let the government shut down, Congress still gets paid.

Concerning the Democratic motion to HR 1255, to prevent Congress and the President being paid their salaries during a government shutdown, and preventing retroactive recovery of those wages once the shutdown is resolved: Democrats 188 for, GOP 237 against.

In other words, the GOP is willing to block the paychecks of millions of federal employees while continuing to draw their own pay.

The Republican legislators are willing to watch others go rapidly broke while they continue to fatten at the public trough. They’re willing to cut many budget items that keep people fed, housed, educated, willing to lay off teachers, cops, firefighters, but not willing to shoulder their share of the burden they want to lay on the middle class and working class.

This needs to be as widely disseminated as possible. If you read this, please circulate it to as many people, social networking sites, and newspapers as possible. The GOP will continue to pull this crap as long as they can convince the voters that the lies their party circulates are true.

Thank you, Congressperson Roe. You’ve shown us how much you value your constituents.
