Needing an every-morning-after pill
There are hundreds of people “occupying Wall Street. They want things to change in the United States. What they want to change and how they want to change it is less certain.
While the placard “we are the 99%” most accurately describes the problem; the lack of common cause and purpose that has marked demonstrations by American and European leftists since the Cold War.
There are signs demanding free speech. It would be better for those signs to demand accurate speech. Truth in advertising is necessary to offset the many levels of propaganda published by the GOP/teavangelist/financial houses media machine.
The graphic at the top of this post is accurate. The teavangelist/GOP candidates are all in thrall to commercial backers and the 1% of the American citizenry that control the nation’s wealth. No matter which candidate you choose, your vote will select a candidate who will vote against increasing taxes for the 1%. Your chosen teavangelist will also vote to abolish social security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and to overturn the new health care laws. Insurance company bureaucrats will determine who is treated, who is triaged out, and whose insurance policy is terminated.
No matter which teavangelist you decide is the least evil, he/she will vote to eliminate the EPA, and FDA. Regulations designed to decrease pollution of our air and water will be overturned. The regulations intended to prevent contaminated food, water, and medications will be gutted so that the last pennies of profit can be squeezed out of the former middle class. The teavangelists will demand that science be discarded for fairy tale myths in our public schools.
Just as there is no STD that is “not all that bad,” there is no teavangelist who will put aside dogma and the party line in order to vote for the benefit of the nation and the citizens of this nation. Even worse, while most STDs can be treated and cured if detected early enough; there seems to be no cure for teavangelism in public office.
There is no vaccination that blocks the election of teavangelists. As with STDs personal intervention, sharing the unpleasant truth is the only palliative measure that can help.
Spread the word. Vote against the GOP/teavangelists at every level. Teavangelism is a lethal disease that must be excised. Your vote is the only known medication that can work to end teavangelism.
