15 October 2011 Full moon falling wood

Despite her injured fingers, Gloria was up to attend last night’s dance.  We left here at 1715 in order to have the gate table manned at 1800.  There were three sets last night, three different bands.
The weekend program requested pre-payment but there was a steady stream of unregistered dancers with cash-in-hand, eager to dance.  I spent over three hours glued to the gate.
The gate area is a traffic choke and somewhat of a problem from my viewpoint.  The papers, files, wristbands, and buttons laid out on the desk were arranged to expedite workflow.  However, many people seem to believe that they can drop their cups of soda, shoes, coats, etc.  They also fail to realize that standing at the table engaging in conversation delays entry for others who want to check in and dance.   It is a simple concept and while most of the dancers are quite decent people, this pattern of behavior has to be as annoying to others as it is to me.
We drove home under a full moon.  Just as we turned the Pathfinder off we heard something crashing in the dark.  We both thought “animal” initially and then realized simultaneously that it was a tree or some portion of a tree.  We think it fell on the downstream side of the house.  It gives one pause to hear that take place in the dark while surrounded by huge trees.  As yet, we haven’t found the source of discomfort.
