“Will voters buy the idea that GOP is sabotaging economy?
            By Greg Sargent
“Steve Benen flags what seems to be a first: A poll gauging whether voters are prepared to believe that Republicans are deliberately sabotaging the recovery in order to take back the White House. With the Obama campaign and Democrats signaling that this argument will be central in 2012, this seems like a relevant question.
“The poll, which surveyed Florida voters, was conducted by Suffolk University. I tracked down the poll’s internals, and here’s the relevant question:
“Do you think the Republicans are intentionally stalling efforts to jumpstart the economy to insure that Barack Obama is not reelected?

Yes 49
No 39
Undecided 12

This is only one state, but as Steve notes, “it’s a large, diverse swing state that both parties take very seriously.” And nearly half of these voters say they believe this — even though the question is asked in a very provocative way…”
Cassi Creek:
I believe that they are intentionally stalling all attempts to initiate job recovery until they believe that they have defeated Obama’s reelection.   The evidence is ample and easy to understand.

Roe wants more local control of education in the U.S.
We must put education first in order to ensure our young people are gaining the knowledge and tools they need to be successful in the future. This is why reforming No Child Left Behind (NCLB) is so important.  I believe there are four principles we must use to help evaluate reform efforts.
First, we must restore local control for academic standards and testing systems so that the local educators who know our children best are able to shape their message in the classroom so students excel in college and the workplace. Second, we must empower parents to have a greater role in selecting and participating in the learning environment that best serves their children’s needs
Cassi Creek:  Someone should remind the Congressman that local control of education, rather than national control and standards, is what put us in the situation we now deplore.  Local control brought us the sterling educational outcomes of Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas.  Local control might be of some questionable merit if graduates from those schools in the states listed above were never to leave those states for any purpose.  However, it is blatantly foolish to expect a child educated in those red state black holes of educational excellence to compete against graduates of schools that actually teach science and unabridged history.
“Empowering” parents is code for teach creationism and pay the football coach more than the combined salaries of the English and science departments; while never failing a football player for academic deficiency.
That’s excellent, Mr. Roe, fits right into the teavangelist’s, “Get sick, die quick” platform.  As for me, and mine, we’ll make certain we see a physician who was educated in a blue state.
Therefore, to return to the question at the beginning, I have absolutely no difficulty believing that the teavangelists are intentionally sabotaging the economy in order to attempt Obama’s re-election.  I believe that they, collectively, are underwritten by corporations and thus have no fear of going hungry or becoming homeless while blocking every attempt at economic recovery Obama attempts to bring about.  They are that corrupt, that greedy, and that mean-spirited.  And unfortunately they have a base that is poorly educated enough to allow them to get by with the deception.  Maintaining that poorly educated base is crucial to their retention of power.  Is it any wonder they want to use red state Deep South schools as standards for education?
