19 June 2011 Another gift to the insurance companies?

Mr. Roe’s “guest editorial” in the 18 June Johnson City Press demonstrates how willing he is to provide still more profits to the health insurance industry.
The Ryan plan vouchers are a joke.  The major reason Medicare was implemented was that most seniors could not find or afford insurance due to being considered “uninsurable by the industry.  Nothing has happened to eliminate those diseases, disorders, and injuries that happen as we age.  The foreseeable outcome of a voucher program is insurance companies taking the vouchers, then denying care to those patients, just as they do now.  Our seniors will be abandoned, as they were prior to Medicare.
Mr. Roe proclaims the Part D Medicare program to be effective.  He has obviously ignored all the commentary concerning the gap or “doughnut hole.”  Seniors wind up paying premiums to insurance companies while they are also paying full price for medications.  The insurance companies are grateful for the Bush administration/GOP gift.  Mr. Roe obviously measures success in terms of happy corporate sponsors.
The cold, hard truth in the “guest propaganda” is that the GOP has always hated Medicare and wants to return to the “get sick and die quickly” days of rationing health care by affordability.
Further proof of Roe’s lack of concern for people can be found in his support of mountain top removal – unhealthy for land and people.
He’s joined the effort to defund the FDA’s efforts to provide safe food.  The food industry is no more likely to or capable of self-policing than is the health care industry.  A physician should know this.
Mr. Roe continually puts his self-interests and his corporate backers above those of his constituents.  It is time for a change in the 1st District.

Cassi Creek:
The letter above was submitted to the Johnson City Press in response to a “guest editorial” printed over the signature of David Phillip Roe, (R)  1st TN.  In his propaganda piece, Roe defends the GOP/teavangelist’s assault on Medicare by means of the Ryan proposal.
In my opinion, Roe exemplifies the worst possible combination of teavangelist and old GOP.  He should be targeted for removal at the earliest possible opportunity.
