I have spent several hours last night and four this morning attempting to trouble shoot a problem with my weather station software. I’m unable to upload data to the mesonet that blends it into the national weather underground broadcast.
The problem seems to have begun during a Comcast nearly nightly period when the lack of bandwidth for the number of users on the line results in nearly every access request timing out. We spent an hour on the phone with Comcast, insisting upon a refund for service not provided.
To be continued. ..
After several hours filled with:
Uninstall, reinstall, reboot; examine results, curse, mutter,
Hike with Mike,
Uninstall, reinstall, reboot; examine results, curse, mutter,
Uninstall, reinstall, reboot; examine results, curse, mutter,
After a trip to Mennonite store for eggs, butter, bacon, cheese, steel-cut oats, store groceries properly, the morning gave way to the afternoon, filled with:
Uninstall, reinstall, reboot; examine results, curse, mutter,
Uninstall, reinstall, reboot; examine results, curse, mutter,
Uninstall, reinstall, reboot; examine results, curse, mutter,
Severe thunderstorm watch announcement,
Uninstall, reinstall, reboot; examine results, curse, mutter,
Uninstall, reinstall, reboot; examine results, curse, mutter,
Uninstall, reinstall, reboot; examine results, curse, mutter,
Unexplained resolution of problem!
There is no logical reason for the software glitch to disappear. Repeating a series of action while looking for a sudden change in outcome is not the best troubleshooting technique, nor does it speak well to one’s mental status.
I can now track the approaching thunderstorms and keep an eye on their intensity. Having access to the NWS radar in its various configurations is very interesting. It requires some serious effort to avoid over-reaching my education level and over-reading the scans as they enter our area of existence.
