The
pseudo-scientists, in thrall to the corporations, which have the most to lose
in the efforts to combat global climate change, now find that their years of
public denial in the service of energy companies leave them exposed for the
charlatans they are. The ice packs and
glaciers are melting, the oceans are rising, and the best efforts of the
government of North Carolina to legislate otherwise make not one bit of
difference to the millions of beach dwellers and subway riders who no longer
have a roof or a ride to work.
The
temptation to cast them adrift is very strong.
There should be a few floes left in the Arctic Ocean that would be
suitable. A slow but steady drift
southward resulting in gradual decrease in surface area should provide them
with time enough to consider their adherence to pseudo-science. If a little seal blood is added to the edges
of their floe, it should suffice to attract a polar bear of two for their
entertainment, and mine.
Fox News is
now announcing that climate change is over, no longer a threat. It must be interesting to be so divorced from
the sciences of geology, meteorology. Physics, oceanography, and a dozen other
disciplines that are currently making efforts to understand and describe this
world and its place in the universe in a manner that allows others to review
and understand the effects of our interaction with the physical world.
It is obvious
that their inability to understand the world we live in that keeps Fox News
viewers and others like them mired in a biblical fairy tale world, where 15
billion years of expanding universe somehow becomes shortened to 6-9000 years
after a mythical creation.
Just some
quick questions for such “well-informed” folks.
If Eve was surgically created from her twin, Adam, why is she depicted
with a navel? If Adam and Eve are
composed of the same genetic material, when did their relationship become no
longer incestuous?
Chew on those
overnight while listening to the next installment of the teavangelists’ anti-Obama
crusade.
