There, and there again.

Today we are upgrading the desktop computer to operate on Win 7.  The supposedly seamless process took 5 restarts to get to the point where the actual install began.

Dinner was spaghetti with clam and shrimp in oliveoil, white wine, and saffron.

  1. It took me the better part of two days to get Win 7 installed with all my software. It demanded a cold install which overwrote everything on my drive which in turn meant reinstalling all my software. What a pain. I can say, however, it was worth it.

Linguine and clams is a staple for us. A little garlic, a little parsely, a little olive oil, splash in some white wine, toss in the clams and simmer. Takes all of ca. 10 minutes to prepare from start to finish. Next time, I'll try it with shrimp. Saffron sounds like an interesting twist as well.

  2. The saffron added a nice touch to the sauce. It was just a pinch, about ten threads, but it made a big difference.

I've decided not to upgrade or update my XP notebook or my HP with the failed wifi adaptor. I've done a couple bare drive installs such as you mention. I'd sooner avoid them in the future.
