Cassi Creek:
Prior to the landfall
of Hurricane/Super storm Sandy, the Romney-Ryan plan for FEMA was to gut
it. Any funds and services used to help
citizens recover after a disaster would have to be agreed upon by Congress
prior to a cent being spent. This was the
plan that Ryan, the weasel and Little Eric Cantor tried to shove down the
throats of those Americans who suffered such great losses in 2011’s Hurricane
Irene. It delayed disaster relief all
over New England while Congress proved it had no concern for the lives and well-being
of citizens in need of food, water, shelter, and health care.
The damage
and losses resulting from Sandy are much greater, the needs of our populace
much greater, and the effort by Ryan and Romney to tie disaster relief to tax
cuts for the wealthy all the more disgusting in nature.
Romney-Ryan
are willing to delay relief and recovery in order to win campaign contributions
from the ultra wealthy who demand Congress keep them ultra wealthy. They are not only content, but also eager to
shove a free-market program for disaster relief onto the backs of those
citizens who are already at a loss for any means of relief that doesn’t come
from a government agency.
What
Romney-Ryan envision is a pay as you receive plan to enable their cronies to
amass windfall profits. Need water? The going rate may be about $5.00/liter. Need food?
How about a bag of junk food from WalMart at $6.99? Blankets to keep you warm, tarps to keep you
dry? Just have a handful of dollar bills
available when the corporations finally drive down what was once your street,
past what was once your home.
Don’t plan to
have power, cable, phone, or internet restored until you pay out a hefty fee
for repairs. The corporations are people
too, remember? In addition, they have a, much louder voice to insure that they
are bailed out, dried out, dragged out, and driven out of the sand and debris
that hampers their ability to continue ripping every imaginable dollar from the
hands of individuals.
Looters? Don’t expect public safety services as we are
used to now. The Romney-Ryan revenue
for the rich plan will no longer pay for security services to protect the
belongings and property of the common citizen.
The wealthy can hire mercenaries, so should the common citizen. After all, the NRA has made sure that
corporations can manufacture and market millions of assault type weapons for
the serious collector and the simply schizophrenic paranoid. Who needs an organized police force, draining
corporate profits, when the neo-Nazi down the block is willing to kill for the
highest bidder?
Yes. I know these
sounds like the ravings of an author of a post-apocalyptic novel. Yes, it is hyperbolic, yes; it is not the
America that many of us find likely to emerge from a natural disaster.
How many of
us foresaw the magnitude of storm and environmental damages over the last two
years? How many of us have the ability
to tear down and rebuild a house after an insurance carrier denies a claim, How
many of us can cough up the necessary cash to pay for a contactor when the cost
of repairs and materials suddenly sky rockets and waiting times are measured in
months and even years. When Wal-Mart and
the other corporate robbers start price gouging, raising their prices on the
Chinese trash they stock, selling food and water for tens of dollars per days’
supply, how long will your cash last?
When Gasoline for generators tops $10.00/gallon how long will you be
able to generate your own power?
This nation
has made a practice of relief and recovery services for all. It’s been preserve lives and property first
then worry about appeasing the free market maniacs. Romney-Ryan want that changed. Property – corporate property, and the
ability of the very rich to continue living as if no one but the very rich
matters, are the new standards of behavior.
The free market, hedge fund, Wall Street robber barons have paid
billions to elect Romney-Ryan. If they
win, the pay back will be beyond imagination.
